In a cooperative effort of the Court, Probation Office, Federal Public Defenders Office, and the U. S. Attorneys Office, the Eastern District of Louisiana is committed to providing a Re-entry Court program for individuals under pretrial supervision. This program shall offer a creative blend of treatment and sanction alternatives to effectively address defendant behavior, rehabilitation, and the safety of our communities. The goals of this program are to reduce recidivism and promote successful community reintegration while maintaining public safety. Participation is voluntary. Appropriate placement will benefit the local community by increasing public safety through intense supervision coupled with therapy, medication management, and casework services. LEAP is an effort to reduce unnecessary detention. The incentive for the participant will be an opportunity to improve his/her quality of life, possible reduction of the charges, or dismissal of the charging document.
This one hour informational session and free CLE will educate the legal community on the LEAP Program. Please feel free to bring your lunch (“brown bag”) to this program. For more information or to register, click here.
