Join the Admiralty Law Committee of the New Orleans Chapter of the FBA for a free event at the Port of New Orleans. The event will include a discussion by Brandy Christian, the new President/CEO of the Port of New Orleans. Ms. Christian and senior members of the Executive Staff will discuss the current operations of the Port, including import/export cargo, and the future of the Port as it looks to trade with Cuba and the expansion of the Panama Canal.
The one-hour presentation and Q&A session will begin at 4:00 pm in the auditorium of the Port of New Orleans, 1350 Port of New Orleans Place, New Orleans, LA 70130. A casual social and reception will follow in the lobby. Attendees are advised to carpool or to take public or private transportation as parking is limited to areas outside of the Port (e.g., paid parking at the Convention Center). A complimentary program for lawyers interested in seeking civil appointments in federal and state courts. Hear directly from federal judges from the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana and the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Middle District of Louisiana, as well as civil and family court judges from Orleans Parish Civil District Court. The judges will explain their powers of appointment, the types of appointments available, and how to apply for appointments. This program will be held in U.S. District Court – EDLA from 2:30 pm – 4 pm on Thursday, February 2, 2017. A Lunch with the Court will be held with the Hon. Susie Morgan on January 26 at 12 noon. The lunch, which is arranged by the Younger Lawyers Division of the Federal Bar Association, is open to FBA members at no cost. The Lunch with the Court program is an excellent opportunity to meet federal practitioners, to socialize with other attorneys new to the practice, and to gain valuable insight. Space is limited.

This event is open to members of the Tulane and Loyola law school communities.
